Sitting alone,
watching the wall as if it’ll change.
You begin to see it change,
as if it were.
To your left,
a pale white sliding closet door is there to greet you.
To your right,
an empty bed without covers, used to hold notebooks instead of sheets.
You look up,
same wall, same ceiling, same meaning.
You look down,
a wooden desk, processed, cheap, not natural.
Who do you think you are,
to view yourself so highly as to think you deserve more than you are given?
You don’t deserve anything,
and yet here you are wishing for company among flowers.
You don’t get company,
why would you, after all?
You don’t need it,
be determined—don’t be a letdown.
You’re competitive—for what, no one else truly cares like you do?
So you sit still, and learn to want less.
